Worcester Street Post Office, Wolverhampton
Well, this post office has survived so far! The Bible Shop next door has been established here for many years too.
This west side of Worcester Street has a row of shop buildings dating from late Victorian or early 20th century times. In contrast to the east side, where uncertain plans for inner city development have left the shops more and more run down or even derelict, many of the units on the west side are being improved and refitted so that new businesses can occupy them. It is noticeable that original frontage tiles have been retained, and some of the original pavement (prism) lights constructed to illuminate cellars or vaults are still in place.

Market square in Wolverhampton
The market has long gone (2018), and the retail units below the apartments are deserted since footfall plummeted to almost zero. The so called "Westside" regeneration has suffered from continued typical Wolverhampton delays and "reassessment".

Picture framing shop in Wolverhampton
This long established business is on the corner of Worcester Street and Salop Street (on the right). The shops on the west side of Worcester Street received a facelift in the 1990s(?), and are notable for the tiling at the base of the attractive frontages.
