Ukrainian Catholic Church (detail), Wolverhampton
Two dates, 988 and 1988 are shown either side of the double cross. These commemorate one thousand years of Christianity in the Ukraine. The church was built in 1988, and dedicated to the two saints (Volodymyr and Olha) whose images can be seen on each tower flanking the main body of the church. It saddens me that British behaviour in the twenty-first century necessitates metal grid protection over the windows of churches, thus detracting from pleasing architectural designs.
