Footpath and sign, Highley, Shrops
This footpath links the Severn Valley Railway Station area with the car park of the Highley part of the Severn Valley Country Park. The signpost finger shows a picture of a steam locomotive to indicate that the station is in that direction. Although not visible in this view, opposite the sign is another footpath which also goes to the car park but takes a circuitous route through the country park.

Memorial for Highley Colliery at Severn Valley Country Park
This is a winding wheel from the former Highley Colliery which closed in 1969. The site now forms part of the Severn Valley Country Park. The wheel has been placed here to celebrate the people who worked in the local mines. It is near to the car park and surrounded by picnic tables and paved paths which lead down to Highley Station on the Severn Valley Railway.

Footpath in cutting, Highley, Shrops
The footpath here appears to have been hewn through the rock visible on both sides. It connects the Highley car park of the Severn Valley Country Park with the area near to the Severn Valley Railway Station.

Colliery wagon at Severn Valley Country Park
This rather ancient and battered colliery wagon has been placed in the Country Park as a reminder that this was once the site of a coal mine, which operated between 1878 and 1969.

Severn Valley Country Park Public Convenience
The Severn Valley Country Park is split into two by the River Severn. The better known and more frequently visited part is near the village of Aveley but the quieter part adjoins the village of Highley. Here in the Car Park is this discreet building which not only contains a public convenience but also serves as a kind of unstaffed visitor information centre. On it and by it are various maps and notices about the Park and the adjoining area.
