One of the main houses in the village, The Grange lies to the south of the junction where the lane from Upper Overton meets Grigg's Lane.

St John the Baptist - Middleton Scriven
The substance of the current church building dates from extensive construction work in the mid 1840s, by the then rector, Rev Dr Thomas Rowley. It replaces a previous church, mainly timber-framed, that was standing on the same site in 1791. Prior to that, the records are unclear as to the size, construction or even the precise location of earlier churches, and it's quite possible that one was located on the other side of the road, near a pair of ancient yew trees known as The Twins.

Cowslips in the churchyard
Wild cowslips - Primula veris - outside the church of Middleton Scriven. A reasonably common wildflower of this part of the world, they thrive best on a lime-rich soil, but can be grown successfully in gardens.
