Site of Dingle Bridge - Bentley Canal
The canal fell into disrepair in the 1960s and is now just a memory. The bridge provided access to clay pits and Fibbersley Colliery. The colliery was typical of the numerous small mining operations throughout the area working the relatively shallow coal seams with four underground and two surface workers in 1896.
