Hilton Park, Essington
A striking house with an obscure building history. It is early C18th, c1720 perhaps, and has a very ornate centrepiece. It was built for Henry Vernon, and his architect may have been Richard Trubshaw. It's unclear whether the attic storey is original, or an unusually sympathetic C19th addition. Grade I listed. It is now an "office and business centre".

Once the head office of the Tarmac empire (there was money to be made in the roadstone industry in the early 1980s) the Grade II listed Hilton Hall has now been converted to a business centre, and this is the entrance to the complex from Hilton Lane.
