Jackson's Family Butchers - Underhill Estate
Just after 7am the butchers are opening up and preparing to deliver freshly sliced bacon to their retail customers. The family business has been here for many years. This shop and another half a mile away at the Scotlands are the only surviving butchers in north and northwest Wolverhampton. The nearest shops are in Wednesfield and the city centre.

Shops and bus terminus, Westcroft Avenue, Underhill estate
Built in the 1950s, this estate was never served as such by trolleybuses, which skirted the southern edge of the estate along Cannock Road. No turning circle was provided here, buses going around the block behind the shops to return to town. The bus shelter is one of the dwindling number in Centro green (as opposed to Network West Midlands blue).

Britain's first low floor double decker, Underhill estate
Loading at the Westcroft Avenue terminus of route 11 from Wolverhampton town centre, National Express West Midlands 4001, a DAF DB250LF/Optare Spectra, was the first low floor double deck bus built for service in Britain. Launched with much fanfare in (if memory serves) 1998, it was not however the first such vehicle to enter service in Britain, being beaten to that honour by a few hours by a similar vehicle operated by a small Bristol based independent operator called Abus (if memory serves).

The Talisman PH
A late 1950s estate pub on the Underhill Estate. Almost my local though I cannot remember setting foot in the place! The pub has been closed following a police raid and the licence suspended for 28 days. It was described as 'at the centre of an organised drugs ring' with crack cocaine, herbal cannabis, scales and cannabis production equipment in the cellar. Owner is Punch Taverns. In 2001 a man was shot dead in the car park.
