Bushbury Hall and Church
Viewed from the top of Bushbury Hill. The field on the west side of the hill was the best for sledging when I was a child.

Bushbury Hall and Church
Bushbury Hall and St Mary's Church lie below Bushbury Hill. Looking out into Staffordshire and Shropshire the Wrekin rises out of the mist some 20 miles away.

Farm buildings and barns north of Bushbury Hall
The rather dilapidated remains of a set of late 18th century brick barns and outbuildings just north of Bushbury Hall; they were Grade II listed https://britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/101282489-farm-buildings-to-north-of-bushbury-hall-bushbury-north-ward#.W59NfehKhPY in 1992, at which time the roofs were still intact, as indeed they were in 2014. One has to suspect fire, sadly, as the almost total disappearance of nearly all the rafters and tiles is hard to explain by any other means (unless it's deliberate). That said, there seems to be little sign of scorching to the brickwork, at least from a distance.

Headstone to Rev John Carter, Bushbury graveyard
Grade II listed https://britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/101205257-carter-headstone-approximately-3-metres-to-south-of-church-of-st-mary-bushbury-north-ward#.W51OXdQrLGg in 1992, the headstone commemorates the Revd John Carter (1739 - 1803) who was for '26 years the Pastor of the Catholic Congregation of Wolverhampton' The rest of the inscription, insofar as it's legible on the best version I have of this image, reads:- "He was a man of uncommon talents, comprehensive, energetic, splendid in his principles and independent in his conduct. Unvarying, ingenuous and kind. And though possessed of [...?...] cheerfully content. Ever ready to divide his [?] with the poor. Steadfast in his religious belief..." From this point onwards it becomes rather too illegible to transcribe in any meaningful manner, but you get the message. He appears to have been a genuinely decent sort of bloke; so much so that he ended up, rather unusually, buried in an Anglican graveyard.
