Bridge on Station Street
The former Wyrley and Cheslyn Hay station opened in 1858, originally on the South Staffs Railway line which later became part of the London & North West Railway, and lay just to the south of this bridge. It closed early in 1965.

Low Bridge in Station Road, Great Wyrley
No station here on the Walsall to Cannock line, although there is a large car park beyond the bridge. The nearest station is at Landywood.

Station Road Cheslyn Hay
If you listen closely to the lyrics of 'The Slow Train' by Flanders and Swan you will hear the name of the local - now hardly noticeable - railway station. It was located just behind the shops in this image.
