This is the Coventry Canal on the approach to Fradley Junction (with the Trent and Mersey Canal) about a mile ahead.
This length of canal between Whittington Brook and Fradley Junction was built by the Grand Trunk Canal company, which became the Trent and Mersey).

Coventry Canal near Fradley South in Staffordshire
Looking south-east towards Tamworth. There were many attractive clumps of Yellow Flag (Iris pseudacorus) along the edge of the canal. New Bridge (No 90A) at Fradley South is ahead.
