Whither "wich"? - defunct industry in Droitwich
The town gets its name from the salt but I believe this firm (OSO Salt Packers) was one of the last vestiges of the industry. The private hospital does have a brine pool still. The site does show the Upwich Pit, the saltworkers' statue and the remains of two brine pumping stations. The town's motto is also featured (sal sapit omnia - salt flavours all).

As well as serving the local community, the pub's position means that it also benefits from passing trade. It has a football team, a darts team and a pigeon racing club. Image
