Malvern St. James girls school
The independent public boarding school occupies several buildings near Great Malvern Station with a variety of architectures.
One of the most striking is the green Edinburgh Dome in the centre of the picture.
This was literally inflated whilst the concrete was still soft - I watched it!
Just above this is the old Imperial Hotel building erected by the railway company.
This is now the main building of the school.
To the left of the picture is their modern sports hall and playing fields.

Malvern Girls' College
With the Edinburgh Dome in the foreground (the gym). The railway passes between the two buildings in a cutting. The school building was originally the Imperial Hotel, designed by E W Elmslie in 1860. He also designed the station, which explains why there is an underground tunnel (now closed!) direct from the platform into the school.

Malvern St James School for Girls
This grand building on Avenue Road was built as the Imperial Hotel in 1860 at the height of Malvern's popularity as a spa town. After the First world War interest in health spas had declined and, in common with other large hotels, the Imperial closed down. In 1919 it became the Malvern Girls' College, now Malvern St James after merging in 2006 with another local independent girls' school.
