Early Morning Smoke, Welland
The weather conditions are just right to stop the smoke from continuously rising. Instead it is moving north north-east to land on a neighbouring housing estate in Welland.

Smoke over the Marlbank Brook
The smoke from a small fire at Welland Farm fails to rise and subsequently spreads northwards following the low land of the brook between the high ground of the Marlbank and St James' church in Welland.
Most of the council house estate on the left of the A road and the more modern Bishop's Wood housing estate to the right is covered by the thin drifts of white smoke.
Taken from the top of Black Hill on the Malverns where the chilly breeze was blowing from the north - the opposite direction to the smoke on the lowlands below.

New lych gate, Welland cemetery
The cemetery is on the Marlbank Road.
The brick walls have been ready for a number of weeks, but the beautiful solid wooden structure was just erected on Friday (9th October 2009).

Lych gate blessed and dedicated, Welland
The Reverend Frances Wookey conducted the blessing and dedication of the Marlbank Lychgate.
She recited Psalm 121 :
"I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills.."
and concludes with the most apt verse:
"The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore."
Mary Roberts of the Friends of Welland, who had the structure erected, then presented it to the Parish Council Chair, Roger Cousins.

Welland lych gate
The completed lych gate erected by the Friends of Welland.
The gates have been added along with wooden seats and a notice board.
It will be handed over to the Welland parish council on Tuesday 8th December 2009.
