Sidbury House, College Street
Sidbury House on College Street in Worcester. Today this building has been converted into apartments, prior to this it was used by Worcester College of Technology. The large windows suggest this may have originally have been a glove making factory.

Ye Olde Talbot (1), Friar Street, Worcester
This hotel, pub and bistro is on the corner of College Street and Friar Street. It used to be a coaching inn, and claims to date from the 13th century. This may be so but, externally at least, it has a much later look, and has clearly either been much altered, or is a later building on the original inn's site.
Behind can be seen a left over of the 1960's, or thereabouts. It is a multi-storey concrete car park, with spiral access ramp. This was inserted into the historic Friar Street, which has many medieval and later buildings, and effectively ruins the cohesion of this end of the street. Fortunately, the city later developed more sensitive policies, with the emphasis on conservation where possible, rather than demolition, but sadly a large chunk of historic Worcester was lost in the early post-war years.

Ye Olde Talbot (2) - sign, Friar Street, Worcester
The former sign for this hotel, which is also a pub and bistro, showed a green king associated with the brewers Greene King, rather than a sign symbolic of the hotel's name. Apparently originally this was a coaching inn, but it's quite likely the present name is not the original. The sign hung on the building's frontage to College Street. Now replaced by a more traditional sign. See link below.

The Hand in Glove (2) - sign, 25 College Street, Worcester
Although really a cocktail bar rather than a public house, it has a traditional pub-type hanging sign outside. Worcester was famous for its manufacture of gloves for a very long period, hence the name.
