Winch at Hampton Ferry
Hampton Ferry is operated by the ferryman pulling on a cable stretched over the river. When a riverboat wants to come past, the cable gets lowered to give it clearance.

Bungalows at Hampton
Part of a sizeable low-rise estate which the map calls a mobile home park. Maybe that's what it was originally, but these places aren't going anywhere in a hurry.

The Ferry at Hampton Ferry, Evesham
Access to the caravan site on the bank of the River Avon furthest from Evesham Town centre is via this ferry. The 'driver' pulls on a chain which is suspended across the river. When the ferry is 'parked' at either bank the chain is allowed to sink to the river bottom.

Hampton ferry and the River Avon
The Hampton ferry still operates as a seasonal ferry. This is a historic ferry crossing dating from medieval times when monks from Evesham Abbey crossed the river here to tend vineyards on Clark's Hill on the other side of the river.
