Regal again?
The 1930s Regal cinema in Evesham is undergoing a massive refurbishment to bring it back into use as a cinema, restaurant and function complex after years of lying closed and disused. It is already showing films again while restoration continues. One of the upcoming attractions at the time of the photo was the vampire movie New Moon - appropriate as the cinema has come back from the dead.

Emergency services in Port Street
Two of the fire engines here are from Buckinghamshire, part of a fantastic response by the emergency services to the flooding resulting from the heavy rain on Friday 20th July 2007. Crews from Cheshire were also in attendance.

Regal Cinema, Port Street, Evesham
With the Merseyside fire and rescue team's van parked up behind the barriers and the TV vans beyond, a mecca for sight-seers this Sunday morning. For the Art deco fans; is the building not a good example of 1930's cinema architecture?

Evesham sight seeing, Sunday morning.
A view down Port Street, where the TV people had set up shop. The Workman Bridge across the Avon at the bottom is blocked off beyond the flood water as it received possible damage from debris and caravans being swept into the arches by the floods on early Saturday morning, 21st July 2007.
