St Mark's School new extension
St Mark's school is being extended to provide up-to-date facilities for Key Stage 1 children and to create space for extended school activities. The first of the floor slabs went in on Saturday 28 February. The extension will be complete in time for the new school year in September.

Wigan Community Fire Station
Now closed down, demolition started in August 2016. It will be replaced by the £4 million New Wigan Community Fire and Ambulance Station.

Saddle Junction
The Fire Station is to the left. To allow the engines to avoid congestion on the large roundabout a short-cut has been devised. Traffic is stopped by the lights to allow machines to swing across the traffic flow to head westwards.
