Stubshaw Cross Heritage Garden
This site was originally a rest garden constructed in the 1930s for public use. Unfortunately, the garden fell into disrepair sometime after 1974 and remained neglected for many years until a local residents’ group set a project to restore it as a heritage garden to celebrate the culture and history of the village. The heritage garden was completed in 2009, restored to its original layout using Ordnance Survey drawings of the site. The garden, together with its gate and the railings surrounding it, contains several symbolic features. The cross represents the village (possibly the site of an ancient cross).
