The Caledonian
Nearly three years on from the first geograph for this square and the gable still proclaims it as a Tetley's pub. And pushchairs are still pushed past!

Changing rooms, Edge Green Street, Ashton Town FC
The changing room block at the ground was built in 1975. Edge Green Street has been the home of Ashton Town since 1964. The club were founder members of the North West Counties Football League in 1982, remaining there until relegated from Division 1 at the end of the 2016-17 season. This photograph was taken on the last day of their relegation season, when they entertained Carlisle City and registered a 3-2 win, only their fifth of the season.

Heritage Garden at Stubshaw Cross
This site was originally a rest garden constructed in the 1930s for public use. Unfortunately, the garden fell into disrepair sometime after 1974 and remained neglected for many years until a local residents’ group set a project to restore it as a heritage garden to celebrate the culture and history of the village. The heritage garden was completed in 2009, restored to its original layout using Ordnance Survey drawings of the site. The garden, together with its gate and the railings surrounding it, contains several symbolic features. The cross represents the village (possibly the site of an ancient cross). The two ears of wheat represent the “two Stubshaws”; two fields on Woods Lane from which the village got its name. The rose, daffodil and shamrock represent the influx of families from other parts of England, Wales and Ireland to work in the mines.
