The turnstiles of Ashton Town FC face directly onto the unmade road from which the ground takes its name. Edge Green Street has been the home of Ashton Town since 1964. The club were founder members of the North West Counties Football League in 1982, remaining there until relegated from Division 1 at the end of the 2016-17 season. This photograph was taken on the last day of their relegation season, when they entertained Carlisle City and registered a 3-2 win, only their fifth of the season.
