A new lease of life?
The pub has been closed for some time now, and it looks as if it is being turned into a private dwelling. The signs in the window say 'To Let. May Sell.' The banner on the gable end expresses a company's interest in buying further properties.

The Monaco Ballroom, Hindley
Situated very close to the town's major crossroads, this old Palais-style ballroom is surprisingly (well, it surprised this ratepayer!) owned and managed by the same charitable limited trust company that runs Wigan's library service.

St Peter's Parish Church
St Peter's Church, Hindley, is in Atherton Road on the major A58/A577 crossroads. It was built in 1863–66 and has been designated by English Heritage as a Grade II listed building. It has a broach spire on top of the clock tower.
