Hindley - Hall Lane at Pilkington Street
The speed-reducing chicane is brilliantly simple, cheap (no signage other than the two bollards nor items requiring maintenance) and very effective.

Hidden Treasure - 02
The plate over the door gives the date of the building of this non-conformist chapel - 1700. This makes it one of the oldest churches in Wigan. Founded as a Presbyterian church, it is now Unitarian.

Hidden treasure-01
Not this particular building - but the one sheltering at its side. I never knew that this church existed, until I happened to glance up the back street which leads to it. It is Hindley Unitarian Church on Presbyterian Fold, off Market Street.

St John's Methodist Church, Hindley
An unusually large building, more like an Anglican church - certainly a rival to St Peter's Cof E on the lower end of Market Street. Unfortunately, also as expensive to maintain, as the scaffolding and shrouding illustrates.
