Down the Wigan Flight-02
The lock cottage beside lock 65 from Withington Lane Bridge. For walkers wanting a ride up, or back down, the yellow 614 bus from Wigan stops on the Lane. Hourly on Sundays, and every 20 minutes the rest of the week.

Lock keeper's cottage at Wigan Top Lock No 65
At the top of the Wigan Lock Flight. Between Wigan Pier and the former Lancaster Canal there are 23 locks, they lift the canal up 214 feet 7 inches over about two and a half miles. This is the steepest part of the canal.
