Changing styles
Architecture down the years - Edwardian terraces lead down towards the refurbished 1960s multi-storey Boyswell House on Scholes. The 1990s houses nearer the camera replace 1970s maisonettes which proved unpopular with tenants and became hard to let. They in turn replaced rows of Victorian terraces.

English Tools Ltd and Wm Park & Co factory, Darlington Street, Wigan
This was the home of Bulldog brand gardening and associated tools, Wm Park & Co and English Tools Ltd being various stages of company name changes. Bulldog tools are still made in other buildings on the site, although the company no longer occupies this range of buildings. This view https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/928430 shows that they were still in occupation in 2007, but the removal of the Bulldog sign has exposed the nice white brick and terracotta signage in the gable. This range dates from the mid 20th century.
