Malt extract manufacturers. This steam vacuum pump by Manlove Alliott of Nottingham was still in use in 1990. It has since been retired and the steam end (but not the vacuum pump) was on display at the Fred Dibnah Heritage Centre, Bolton. It has subsequently been auctioned off and its current location is not known.

Haigh Foundry gateposts
According to Mike Bradley, who worked at the foundry for 29 years and at least 6 generations of his family have worked in the foundries on this site, the gateposts were cast (they are hollow and made from cast iron) at Haigh Foundry which was located just through them. The building on the left of the post was the time office for workers clocking on. There is also a matching set of posts where the path from Haigh plantations enters the foundry cottages
