Mesnes Park Pavilion
Mesnes Park occupies a 12 hectare site immediately to the north-west of Wigan town centre. The park features number of Victorian park features including this pavilion which is now Fredericks ice-cream parlour.

Wigan Boer War Memorial, Mesnes Park
The Boer War Memorial was unveiled in Mesnes Park to honour the Wigan soldiers that fell during the South African war.
The memorial originally comprised of a detailed stone figure of an officer in Boer War campaign uniform and slouch hat holding a banner and pistol, on the inscribed stone plinth. Sadly, the original marble statue of the solder was removed in 1965 due to deterioration and vandalism, and was subsequently lost. The granite bas has been cleaned as part of the Heritage Lottery funded restoration work in the park.

Bandstand and Pavilion, Mesnes Park
Mesnes Park occupies a 12 hectare site immediately to the north-west of Wigan town centre. The land had been meadow and pasture, but by 1847 supported two collieries. Wigan Corporation purchased the site after 1871 and it was opened as a public park in 1878.
The park features a number of Victorian park features including this bandstand and the pavilion (Image]) which is in the background.
