Detail of the coal miner statue in South Kirkby
Created by a relatively famous local sculptor called Graham Ibberson and unveiled in 2005 to commemorate the local men who lost their lives for coal. In a hundred years at least 250 died at South Kirkby, Frickley and South Elmsall Collieries - also includes Riddings Drift Mines.

Mining memorial
Miner sculptured by Graham Ibberson and commemorating lives lost in the local drift mines and collieries. The statue was unveiled on 27th November 2005.
