Four Lane Ends
Four separate roads meet at this junction and it is known locally as Four Lane Ends, or Lane End for short.

Boundary wall
This wall is all that remains of the workhouse, Workhouse Fold, that once existed in Stanley. Build date unknown but records go back as far as 1803. Converted into houses in 1847, they were demolished in the 1940s and social housing now occupies the site.

The Travellers, Stanley
Currently one of three pubs in a short distance along Lake Lock Road (the others being the Wheatsheaf and the Waggon and Horses). I would be surprised if they all stay open much longer, at the rate pubs are closing.
