The Spindle Tree will spin no more
Sadly shut down, although many good reviews can still be found online.
At least it hasn't stood empty to fall into ruins. The builders are at work gutting the place, and cladding the exterior with reconstituted stone. It will look quite different when finished.

The Spindle Tree
This pub/restaurant was formerly called the Railway Hotel due to its proximity to the railway station. The building dates back to the 19th century, and in its early days was a coaching house.

Spindle Tree Pub Sign
See Image The one British species of Spindle tree, (Euonymus europaeus), is also a native of Western Siberia, North Africa, and the whole of Europe. Spindle tree refers to the use of its wood for spindles, which still prevails where hand-spinning survives as an industry.
