Silver birch, Betula pendula
A slender elegant tree with distinctive, mainly silvery white bark, with black patches, which can grow to 30m.

Lofthouse Colliery Nature Park, the down side
Dog walkers are requested to clean up after their dogs, but instead of depositing the package in a bin or taking it home, the latest trend seems to be ‘fling it in a tree’.
Our group walk leader has christened them ‘doggy doo wessel cups’. (Wessel cups, a Yorkshireism for Christmas tree decorations).
