Wild fowl Lake, Thornes Park, Wakefield
A large lake (partially iced over on this very cold March day) at the lower end of this lovely park (one of 3 parks in one large area). On this particular day there were very many Canada Geese and gulls, far outnumbering the usual ducks!

Thornes Park, island in the lake
At one time a replica Pandora’s Temple stood on one of the islands in the lake. I think it was on the larger one shown in picture Image It was destroyed by gales in the early 1970’s.
(In Greek mythology Pandora was the first woman).
