There's a hole in Denby Dale Road
From north to south right across Wakefield, Northern Gas Networks are replacing metal gas mains with more durable plastic pipes. By luck or by judgement, this work is taking place during the Covid 19 lockdown, so the traffic disruption is nowhere near as bad as it would have been.

Base to Thornes Pump
The Grade II Listed pump base was built over a well in 1827 and the pump removed later when the source became contaminated. The base was removed to its current location from the middle of Holmfield Lane post 1953.
