Postbox outside Wakefield Town Hall
A Georgian (ie. George VI) postbox. On the wall is a style of fire hydrant marker found in many places in Wakefield, but unlike those seen elsewhere.

This was the site of the original Police headquarters back in 1908. The building, in Wood Street, is still being used by the police.

Large stone flags in front of Wakefield Town Hall, Wood Street
The size of these flags astonished me, but it occurs to me now that they are in scale with this huge building. I estimate the size of the whole flag in the centre foreground to be 8 feet* by 5 or 6 feet possibly; the one beyond it to the right might be 10 feet long. How thick? How heavy? How were they produced? How were they laid? Further from the building the scale of the paving reduces: the paler band of regular-looking slabs partly in the sun might be 4-5 feet long, of concrete or granite. Beyond them in the tree shadow are some flags of natural stone of more conventional size, 2-3 feet.
*Judging by the man on the right in Image the corner of the structure on the left is a bit over 5 feet/say 1·6m. The near long side of the above flag is 1·5 x 1·6 = 2·4m: it's the length of a standard parking space!
