Wakefield Cathedral
A church has stood on the site of Wakefield Cathedral in Kirkgate since Saxon times. The present building was built in the 14th century and restored in the 19th century, and is a grade I listed building. The parish church of All Saints was elevated to cathedral status when Wakefield became a city in 1888.

Sundial
This sundial can be found on the south side of Wakefield Cathedral. I can only assume it was fashioned from stonework recovered from an earlier version of the then parish church, as I can find no documentation on it.(Note the boot scraper, another relic from the past).
