Ebenezer Primitive Methodist Chapel
The now disused Ebenezer Primitive Methodist chapel in Market Street was first built in 1838 and substantially rebuilt in 1880 to incorporate a Sunday School at ground level.

Chasley Hotel
There has been a hotel on this site in Queen Street since 1965, when it opened as the Metropolitan. It was then renamed subsequently as Caesar's, the Swallow and the Chasley Hotel. Pravda bar in the foreground.

TA Centre
The following units are stationed at Wakefield TA Centre in George Street:- 299 Parachute Squadron, 72 Engineer Regiment - Royal Engineers Unit Overview:- 299 Parachute Squadron was reformed in Wakefield, West Yorkshire in June 2006 and is the only parachute role Engineer Squadron in the Territorial Army. As part of this 299 Para Sqn RE (V) will provide Close Engineer Support to 23 Engineer Regiment (Air Assault), the dedicated regular army engineer unit of 16 Air Assault Brigade. In order to carry out this highly specialist role, the Squadron trains to work alongside the Regular Army, to the same high standards, using the same equipment.
