The power of steam!
On the left is one of the hyperbolic cooling towers of the disused 2000 MW Ferrybridge C power station. The big grey building closer to the camera with the plume of steam bottom left are the plasterboard works built to use the output of the flue gas desulphurisation plant (no longer in use). The chimneys beyond are on the new energy from waste power station - Ferrybridge Multifuel 1. FM1 is capable of generating around 68MW of low carbon electricity using a range of fuel sources, including waste-derived fuels from various sources of municipal solid waste, commercial and industrial waste and waste wood. The plant takes fuels from across Yorkshire and the wider region. FM2 is to follow and will be of 90 MW.
