Fir Tree Court, Pontefract Road, Knottingley
A recent housing development. Vehicle access is from Ferrybridge Road but this gap in the wall gives pedestrian access to the nearby railway station.

The Railway Hotel, Knottingley
The pub is at the top of the station approach road but according to Whatpub.com, it was built c.1840 on what was then the main road from Pontefract, as the Prince Albert Hotel. Thus it predates the station that opened in 1848. From c.1861 known as Earnshaw’s Hotel after its owner, it was renamed again c.1866 as the Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway Hotel. Part of an older 'ghost' sign can be seen on the brickwork.

Knottingley Station
A class 08 shunter heads a short trip freight into Knottingley station. The majority of the wagons are sand hoppers, presumably for the nearby glass works.
