Living Statue - Gold
One of the "living statues" along the pedestrianised James Street between King Street and Floral Street. This gold one looks like an airman perhaps, or an American policeman or firefighter. Or perhaps, judging by the quite prominent nose, he's supposed to be Jimmy Durante. Whoever he was representing, that pint of lager was going to take quite long time to drink considering the long motionless pauses between gulps.

Street scene in Covent Garden, London in August
I suppose this chap is a street performer - though some might say there is minimal performance to sitting on a cleverly hidden stand and supping a pint of the amber nectar. I beg to differ - the stress of being very much on show to the general public must be exhausting, especially when your movements are limited. I think he may as well be handcuffed to a bench. Clever though.
Until you figure it out and then you think "how much does he make on a good day?" or " does he gain fulfillment at work?" or "how long does it take to clean the gold paint out of his hairline or ear holes at night?" or "is he safe?" then like everyone in Covent Garden you bimble off and get distracted by 1,000 other eye-catching sights and consign him to obscurity again.

Unless it was an optical illusion, this man, painted all over in silver, was only suspended by his hand holding the spade. See also http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/4610728

Painted figure in Covent Garden
This man was painted all over in gold and did a high five with every child who put money in the box. There was nothing visible that he was sitting on. See also http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/4610724
