Colliery Gates, a reminder of the past.
The former Sutton Manor colliery site is now a public open space, part of the Mersey Forest managed by the Forestry Commission. In April 2009 The Dream statue was erected on the highest point of the site, 270ft above sea level.

Sutton Manor Colliery - main gates
The colliery operated from 1906 to 1991 and was in its heyday the most productive pit in the Lancashire coalfield. The gates now lead to woodland paths and the "Dream" sculpture by Jaume Plensa.
