Looking along Halton View Road, (B5178). St. Ambrose Church is behind the photo view and just off the right edge of the photo is Bargain Booze then the Post Office.
The dark car caught my eye at the time.

St Ambrose, Halton View
The church of St Ambrose (Church of England) is situated at the junction of Halton View Road with Warrington Road and was consecrated in 1883. It was designed by James Francis Doyle of Liverpool and was originally designed to have a tower and spire which were never completed.

Warrington Road at its junction with Halton View Road. The popular local pub, The Castle Hotel can be seen at the corner of Edward Street, it is at present closed and to let.

Vent your wrath
The Victorian sewage ventilation shaft on the left is a listed structure... sadly one of the country's earliest railways, the St. Helens - Runcorn Gap line of 1832, has not been preserved, and the Widnes by-pass now runs from the M62 along its course.
