Power for Old Quay swing bridge
This is the original water hydraulic power plant. In the foreground is a twin cylinder hydraulic power pump with fast and loose pulleys in the centre and a drive belt heading down the middle to the Crossley horizontal single cylinder engine at the back. This plant has been updated but I know not how.

Old Quay Bridge (Open)
The Old Quay swingbridge, which is grade II-listed (Historic England List Entry Number: 1326262 http://www.heritagegateway.org.uk/Gateway/Results_Single.aspx?uid=1326262&resourceID=5 Heritage Gateway), connects Runcorn with Wigg Island. It is operated from the south bank by means of a hydraulic system. It dates from ca1894 when the canal was opened.
