Grade 2 listed milestone, Penketh
Described on the National Heritage List for England as "Late C19 milestone unusual in marking distances to buildings rather than places. Represents significant historic interest as a reminder of the area's transport history and changing road patterns. Late C19, whitewashed stone. Triangular, downward sloping top. Lettering reads 'PENKETH' (top); 'TO WIDNES TOWN HALL 3 3/4 MILES' (left); 'TO WARRINGTON MARKETGATE 3 MILES'. Milestone erected between 1882 - 1894-6.
