Approaching the bridges, Warrington
Warrington is heavily constrained by the River Mersey and the former Stockport-Widnes railway line, both of which historically had just one bridge each for all traffic. Construction of the M6 Thelwall Viaduct in the early 1960s brought huge relief all round.

Arpley Bridge, Warrington
A truss or box girder bridge perhaps. Built to carry the railway over the River Mersey. Rails are visible for a short distance but the line closed in the 1980s (Image]).

Footpath under the railway, Warrington
This footpath takes pedestrians under the railway alongside the River Mersey. It leads to the Centre Park business park. It is prone to flooding at exceptional high tides.

The Mersey breaches its wall at Bridgefoot
The view at the rail/ footbridge over the Mersey as it bursts its banks in Warrington Town Centre. Note the water pouring through the wall and the plucky or stupid individual determined not to go the long way round!

A pub built as part of the Centre Park business park development at the turn of the millennium. It is popular for leaving dos - some of the companies in the business park have quite a high staff turnover.
