Warning Notice at Booths Mere
The accompanying map is headed 'boothsmere swim map', and illustrates 17 red markers around the notional periphery of the lake, anticlockwise. Whether this is to help or discourage swimmers is unclear. Since the water is said to average 4 feet in depth, it would not appear to be a particular hazard. There are fishing club licences to be had in Altrincham so perhaps swimming is detrimental to the fish.
