Old Milepost, A537, Chelford Road, Ollerton
The milestone is located just north of Ollerton Cross Roads, on the grass verge, on the south west side of road. Parish of Ollerton (Macclesfield District). Cast iron post, Old acorn open book design, erected by the Macclesfield & Nether Tabley turnpike trust in the 19th century.
Inscription reads:-

Old Toll Bar Cottages
Clearly at one time the Chelford Road was a Turnpike. This is the view across the A537 from Marthall lane towards Seven Sisters Lane. The cottages were built around 1740.
