Gaskell Memorial Tower and King?s Coffee House, Knutsford
Within this complex of buildings dominating views along King Street are council offices and a restaurant. The buildings date from 1907-8 and are described at http://www.britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/en-476368-former-kings-coffee-house-and-gaskell-me as "Eclectic Italianate".

A classic English town street, with the exotic addition of the Gaskell Memorial Tower designed by Richard Harding Watt. It commemorates the life and work of the 19th century novelist Elizabeth Gaskell. Knutsford was the inspiration for 'Cranford'.
