C?te Brasserie coming soon
The distinctive black and white restaurant at the junction of Westgate and Ashley Road was called Est-Est-Est for many years, then it was the Hale Grill for about 10 years until September 2016, when it suddenly closed. It is due to re-open as the Côte Brasserie in January 2017.

Ashley Hotel, shops and bowling green, Hale
The supermarket on the left was Safeway in 1976, when this photograph was taken. It has since changed hands a few times. Warburton & Co was a gift shop, selling a wide variety of good quality gifts.
On the far right is the monkey puzzle tree, which was a landmark within the village.

Hale is part of Altrincham, in Cheshire, but also part of Greater Manchester. The building beyond the bowling green is the Britannia Ashley Hotel.
