Amberley Drive: The small estate here occupies the site of a former mansion called 'Amberley'- the home of a silk merchant in the 1960s - pulled down to create land for speculative building on the western edge of Hale Barns.

Barrow Lane: the house is out of sight, but one has to admire the candy-twist brickwork and finials at the entrance gates. As you may observe, from similar photos nearby, 'ogee' iron gates are a common feature on many large, detached properties in the area.

New home, Hale Barns
In recent years, quite a number of houses of this size have gone up in the area. They are usually built in the (large) gardens of other houses or by demolishing smaller, older properties on the site.
Little wonder that one of the leading companies in Hale Barns village is a supplier and installer of security systems.
