The Old Roebuck
Originally built a short distance away behind the Old Market Tavern, the pub was moved to its current position circa 1837 to commemorate the accession of Queen Victoria when Well Street was renamed Queen Street. It is currently owned by the Ei Group (formerly Enterprise Inns). Image

Stamford Street, Altrincham 1977
Construction is under way on the new multi-storey car park as part of the rebuilding of the area between George Street and Stamford New Road. Note the very prominent advertisement for a brand of cigarettes! Nearly forty-five years on (2021) José (for hair and beauty) on the left is still trading, although the premises themselves have been rebuilt.

Springfield House, Stamford Street
A Georgian house established as a boarding school for young ladies. It was later used for commercial purposes, including Cartrights the Furnishers. Despite being a listed building it was demolished in about 1978.
