British Home Stores in administration, Warrington Golden Square
On 25 April 2016 it was confirmed that BHS had entered administration, following the failure to bring an estimated £60 million into the business, required to safeguard its future. On 2nd June 2016 it was announced that the company would be wound down following failed attempts to find a buyer. The branch in Warrington's Golden Square has begun a Closing Down sale that is expected to end by August when the store will close for good.

Former British Home Stores, Warrington
At the time of writing there is a lot to be settled regarding the future of 'Sir' Philip Green and the pensions of thousands of ex-employees of the defunct department store. The Old Fish Market, Warrington
The outside framework of the fish market was preserved and refurbished to form a central open area in the new Golden Square shopping centre, begun in 1973. The Old Fish Market, as it is now known, has hosted many entertainment activities from TV and radio personalities, as well as open air concerts and charity events.
